Jorden Abbs

Chief Executive

Qualifications | Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice 1, 2, 3. Certificate in Supervising in a Regulated Environment

To say that Norfolk Capital Group runs through Jorden’s veins is no understatement. He began his professional career working at the Group, for chairman Andrew Turner. Andrew’s mentorship has been strongly influential on Jorden’s progression up the ladder, through a number of roles, across several Group companies.

Since his first position with NCG in 2002, Jorden has built a broad foundation of financial services experience across many operational disciplines. Along his career path Jorden has added value to the Group in various job functions, all focussed on operations with a strong sales acumen and customer service ethic.

Jorden joined what was at the time, TurnKey Landlords. He was placed on secondment as the Head of Underwriting, in March 2015. This role gave him full insight into and responsibility for delivering excellent customer service to property investment clients, based across the UK.

When the business experienced its next evolution and rebranded to become Commercial Trust, a name which better described the full-service landlord finance offering the brokerage delivered, Jorden became one of the buy to let mortgage sales managers.

In this role Jorden supplemented his existing experience of regulated mortgage broking with the unregulated world, whilst leading a team of advisors from strength to strength.

The opportunity for progression is always given equally at NCG and Commercial Trust, but when the role of Head of Operations arose, Jorden was a natural fit. This was a stepping stone into the job of Sales Director and just shy of 5 years later, Jorden was appointed Chief Executive of the business.

"By setting up Commercial Trust and the team here with a values-led approach, I know we will always have an unbeatable formula for success"

With that being the case, what can you expect from Jorden’s leadership, when working with Commercial Trust?

Speaking on this subject Jorden said:

“Fundamentally, strong values always come first. Everyone who comes to know our Group, our Company and the individuals who work here will know that to us and to me, values are everything. This is because we know we are handling matters that affect our client’s lives and livelihood. That needs to be done with expertise, care and professionalism.

“By setting up Commercial Trust and the team here with a values-led approach, I know we will always have an unbeatable formula for success.

“Our name carries the word ‘Trust’ for a reason, it is something we seek to earn from everyone we work with, whether that is clients, peers or lenders.

“By focussing on specialist lending, we are committed to delivering excellence in that vertical. When a client comes to us for help, we can demonstrate they will get the best possible solution for their borrowing needs from a huge array of lenders, because of our in-depth knowledge of the subject.

“The final, critical element to ensure Commercial Trust goes from strength to strength is a happy workforce. This receives close attention from me and the management team. We listen to feedback from staff and have a number of initiatives directed at giving everyone here a positive and fulfilling working environment, where everyone is valued for their hard work.”
