Nicola Eaton

Marketing Director

Qualifications | BA Hons. Chartered Institute of Marketing Advanced Certificate

Nicola is a Marketing Director with experience dating back to 2002. She joined Commercial Trust in 2012, applying her expertise to the financial services and specialist lending industry. Appointed to the board in October 2024, she plays a key role in shaping how clients experience and understand complex finance products.

Her work sits at the intersection of marketing, customer experience and industry insight — ensuring that every interaction a client has with the business is clear, informative and designed to support confident decision-making.

Putting clients first in a complex market

Whilst Commercial Trust operates within an unregulated sector, the business applies standards that closely reflect regulated environments. This is driven by a clear principle: clients should always feel informed, supported and treated fairly — regardless of regulatory obligations.

Nicola is responsible for shaping how products and services are presented to clients, ensuring:

  • Complex financial products are explained in clear, accessible language
  • Clients can understand risks, options and suitability, not just features
  • Information is structured to support informed decision-making, not pressure-led conversion
  • The overall journey — from first enquiry to application — feels transparent, supportive and human

Deep industry knowledge and insight

A key part of Nicola’s role is staying at the forefront of developments that impact the specialist lending market.

She continuously monitors:

  • Macro-economic trends, including interest rates, inflation and housing market shifts
  • Lender behaviour, criteria changes and product innovation
  • Regulatory direction and wider expectations of consumer fairness
  • Evolving borrower needs and how different client groups are affected by market conditions

This ongoing analysis ensures that the information clients receive is not only accurate, but relevant to the current market — helping them navigate uncertainty with greater confidence.

Thought leadership and content expertise

Nicola plays an active role in shaping the firm’s thought leadership and educational content, regularly writing and overseeing materials that explain:

  • Changes in the specialist lending landscape
  • How new or evolving products work in practice
  • The real-world impact of economic conditions on borrowers
  • Key considerations clients should take into account before making decisions

Her focus is on making complex topics understandable without oversimplifying them — giving clients the context they need to make informed choices.

Commitment to better client outcomes

Nicola’s approach is grounded in the belief that better-informed clients make better decisions.

By combining deep industry awareness with a strong focus on clarity and transparency, she ensures that marketing and communication are not just effective — but genuinely useful.

Her work helps create a client experience that builds trust over time, supports long-term relationships, and reflects the company’s commitment to putting clients first.
